TikTok’s Viral S’mores Cones Just Changed Summer Bonfires Forever

Summer doesn’t truly begin until you’ve indulged in your first s’more of the season: a dreamy combination of toasted marshmallow and melted chocolate sandwiched between two graham crackers. But thanks to #foodtok, the seasonal treat has been changed forever with the invention of s’mores cones, which trade graham crackers for a store-bought ice cream cone. Read on to learn how to make TikTok s’mores cones.

25 S’mores Recipes That Take the Original to a Whole New Level

How To Make Tiktok S’mores Cones

This decadent dessert is simple: Just stuff a waffle or sugar cone with marshmallows and chocolate to your liking, wrap it in foil and hold it over a campfire until it’s all melted. Think of it as a less messy version of traditional s’mores that’s just as summery and kid friendly.

Of course, it’s a super flexible recipe. You could use any type or size of cone, chocolate or marshmallow you’d like. You can skewer the foil packet and hold it over an open flame, plop the foil packet atop your grill’s hot grates or make it on the stovetop indoors. Most importantly, you can go ham with additional ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need to make the O.G.:

Ingredients

  • Waffle or sugar cone
  • Chocolate bar or chips
  • Marshmallows, full-sized or mini (you can use Marshmallow Fluff in a pinch)

Step 1: Remove a waffle cone from the package. Fill it one third of the way up with chocolate (about two pieces of a standard Hershey’s bar or a teaspoon or two of chocolate chips). Add one full-sized marshmallow or a layer of mini marshmallows atop the chocolate. Continue layering until the cone is full with a marshmallow poking out the top.

Step 2: Wrap the entire cone in aluminum foil, sticking a skewer into the center before wrapping it shut. Hold the packet over a fire for about 2 minutes until the chocolate and marshmallows are melted to your liking.

Other Ways To Make Tiktok S’mores Cones

Our favorite basic updates to the standard recipe include adding crumbled graham crackers for more of that iconic s’more flavor and toasting the marshmallows separately before adding them to the cone (since wrapping them in foil just melts them, and if you’re like us, s’mores are all about the charred mallow). But there are plenty of ways to riff with other ingredients too.

Some TikTokkers spruce the cones up with fruit. Bananas are an easy win (especially if you wanted to substitute Nutella or dulce de leche for chocolate), but berries, clementines, apples or even pineapple are worth trying too. Smearing peanut butter (or better yet, peanut butter and jelly) on the cone before filling it would make the dessert extra decadent. We’d also be psyched to try white chocolate instead of milk or dark and pair it with strawberries or raspberries, chopped nuts and shredded coconut.

If you really have a hankering for something sweet, after removing the cone from the heat, top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and eat your way through the ooey-gooey filling. The cone is your oyster, friends.
