Picture this: It’s quarter to noon on a Wednesday. The emails are rolling in, that to-do list is stacking up and you are hungry. The yogurt you scarfed down in the car on the way to work is no longer cutting it, and your taste buds are jonesing for something hearty and nutritious. Enter Sweetgreen––the fast-casual salad restaurant that’s cornering the market on your lunch break.

Here at PureWow, we’re big fans (it also doesn’t hurt that there’s a prime location in our NYC office lobby). But as much as we’d like to grab the work wife and indulge daily, our wallets would say otherwise. Fresh produce and quality proteins do not come cheap, and most salads at Sweetgreen will set you back $16 or more.

But what if you could get two meals for the price of one? While scrolling through the Explore page on Instagram, I recently came across a genius Sweetgreen menu hack. You know the free bread they toss on top of the salad ahead of checkout? Here’s how to turn it into a gourmet slice of avocado toast.

Salad + avocado toast = all-day fullness. As shown in the video, you can’t go wrong with adding the works––salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and a drizzle of olive oil. If you want to take it up a notch, I suggest topping your toast with diced grape tomatoes, pickled red onions or a hard-boiled egg for an extra boost of protein.

Bon appétit (times two)!
