You went all out for Pride Month this year, trying your hand at a few rainbow recipes, shopping your fave queer-owned fashion brands and donating your heart out. But have you heard of LGBTQ+ History Month? It was founded in 1994 and is now celebrated annually in October. And starting today, Oreo is kicking it off with a new iteration of its famous cookies.
In partnership with Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), the biggest organization for LGBTQ+ people, their families and allies, Oreo is launching limited-edition Oreo Rainbow Cookies in tandem with a new film titled Proud Parent. Each package features seven different colors of crème filling, an homage to the pride flag. Here’s the catch: You won’t be able to find them at the grocery store.
Only 10,000 packs of rainbow Oreos will be available starting October 9. To score one, you’ll have to share a photo of what allyship means to you on Instagram or Twitter. Once you tag and follow @oreo and add the hashtags #ProudParent and #Giveaway to your post, you’ll be eligible to win a pack (as long as you’re one of the first 10K submissions).
If you’re interested in watching the film (it celebrates authenticity and the notion that loving homes create a loving world), you can watch it here or check it out on oreoproudparent.com.
