This stovetop grill pan, made from enameled cast iron, can tackle everything from burgers to chops to grilled corn indoors. It’s more durable than an electric grill (like a George Forman), thanks to the long-lasting material. The cooking surface is about 10 inches wide, so you can fit about four to five burgers on it at once.
It’s also heirloom-quality, designed to retain and distribute heat like a charm so you get Insta-worthy char marks and even sears, every time. Lazy cooks will love that it requires no pre-seasoning like raw cast iron.
The grill, which is oven-safe up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit and compatible with gas, electric, induction and ceramic cooktops, is also a cinch to wash, since it has a nonstick surface that food will slide off of, and will last for the long haul (so long as you don’t put it in the dishwasher and avoid using metal utensils and abrasive sponges).
Best of all, it’s multifunctional if you also have a Perfect Pot, $175, (the cast iron version with a matte interior that will brown your food without staining was just restocked) in your kitchen. The grill can be used as a base for the pot, creating a spacious makeshift bread oven. The Perfect Pot’s lid can also cover the grill to steam foods (think cheese on burger patties and cruciferous veggies that you don’t want to overcook). Finally, the grill can be used as a lid for the pot to save room in the oven or storage cabinet.
Whether you buy it separately or with the cast iron Perfect Pot, the Hot Grill is the ultimate hack for a rainy summer day and an essential for year-round grilling.
