You don’t need to be in New York City to enjoy Magnolia Bakery’s legendary banana pudding, since it’s available online to ship nationwide. But it’s about to become even easier to satisfy your craving: A new line of frozen-to-thaw banana puddings is launching in mid-November, and you’ll be able to get them delivered to your doorstep in a flash.
After three years of testing and tinkering, this iteration of the bakery’s most famous dessert has been perfected for anyone who wants to stock up to satisfy a midnight craving. The fresh banana pudding that you find in stores can’t be frozen or saved for later because the banana slices change color and texture rather quickly. So, the brand worked on a version that can be kept in the freezer and thawed in the fridge without losing quality.
Take it from PureWow VP of editorial Candace Davison, who tried it via DoorDash. “It thaws out and retains its fluffiness, which is so key to the Magnolia Bakery banana pudding experience,” she explains. “Once thawed, it’s honestly the same as ordering a pint from a local bakery and stowing it in your fridge...and it’s just as dangerous, because I devoured the whole thing in no time. To that end, once it’s thawed, you kind of have to—after a couple days, the bananas start to get gooey.”
