Aldi Is Selling—Wait for It—Bottled Margarita Wine (You Heard Us)
Our favorite affordable German grocery chain has done it again in the wine aisle (remember when their $8 bottle of rosé was named one of the best wines in the world?). This time, they're mixing things up. Literally. Aldi is selling a ready-to-drink wine-based margarita from Rancho La Gloria Wine Cocktails—so, no, it's not an Aldi exclusive—but it sure sounds interesting.
As margarita lovers know, it's the tequila, which comes from agave, that makes the classic cocktail. In this case, the Rancho La Gloria bottled beverages are made with agave wine. But these are not your mama's wine coolers. With a 13.9 percent ABV, sipping on this concoction (directly from the bottle and over ice is how they recommend it) will certainly add a kick to your step.
So what does it taste like? Apparently, very similar to your typical margarita...but with a twist. According to the Rancho La Gloria site, “The smooth agave wine sets a perfect base for aromas of lime and lemon-curd meringue with a smooth sorbet finish of candied-orange peel. Made with 100% blue weber agave and real lime juice.”
The drink also comes in strawberry and mango flavors (the former was spotted at Aldi by Instagram account @aldi.mademedoit). And did we mention it's gluten-free?
