I’m looking for a dress that’s going to enhance my appearance without depleting my bank account, is that too much to ask? (Also, no thank you to the dry cleaner.) It’s got to be something I can wear with sneakers at the weekend, but I’d like it to also be able to look sharp with heels or boots for a night out, or a day at the office. And if it can have a dash of Euro chic, that’s great too.
Sound impossible? That’s what I thought until I discovered the Tuckernuck Callahan Shirt Dress ($128), a shirt dress that comes in multiple colorways and eight sizes. Here’s my review, to give you a little insight as to why I’m stanning this little number so hard.
First, last and probably most excitingly, this dress has no waist. None, nada, zilch, zip. So that means that when I donned it at a recent multicourse tasting menu meal, I had not a smidge of discomfort after an hour-plus of six delicious courses. Since the dress falls straight from the shoulder to a ruffled hem around mid-leg, the A-line shape isn’t clingy or restrictive. (This design is the best shape for all holiday dinners, IMHO.)
