Do you feel that? That’s the anticipation of a budding new season stirring up talk about the spring fashion trends we should expect, like pairing barn jackets with sheer skirts or micro shorts with Hunter Wellies à la Kate Moss, and even swapping out your traditional knit for an asymmetrical cardigan. In past seasons, I’ve usually been on the edge of my seat, eager to research the next color trend, but lately, I’ve been compelled to focus on something I anticipate will surpass the navy and burgundy craze: prints. Mark my words, these four prints will be everywhere this spring.

1. Polka Dots

One of the best ways to predict seasonal print trends is to look at what’s walking down the designer runway shows, and Carolina Herrera’s SS 2025 collection celebrated the return of polka dots. From blouses and skirts to dresses and gowns, Wes Gordon left no inch uncovered and showcased just how sophisticated this classic pattern can be when left to its own devices. In fact, many celebrities and royals opted for the print during last year’s Wimbledon tournament, including Kirsten Dunst, Margot Robbie and Princess Charlotte, and to say it was a show of elegance would be an understatement. This spring, lean into all the polka dot dresses you can get your hands on, and say yes to blouses and skirts with the pretty print, too, balancing it out with grounding staples from your closet, like jeans or a crewneck sweater.

2. Animal

For spring 2025, we’re embracing our inner animal faux animal pieces inspired by wild mammals and reptiles: leopard, snake, zebra, cow print—you name it. Animal print, a staple in Western fashion, is making its return to the spring scene after last year’s cowboy core craze. Except this time, we're trading our spurs for bold prints that do all the talking. When it comes to pulling off this look, less is more. Choose a loud statement piece that stands out and wear it like you would a vibrant pop of color, pairing it with subtle items for a striking contrast between the wild and the tame.

3. Stripes

Copenhagen Fashion Week has spoken: Spring fashion is all about embracing stripes in every form. How is this different from your go-to striped button-down blouse, you ask? Fashionistas are getting creative with not only the types of stripes they’re wearing (think everything from pinstripes and Mariner stripes to track pant stripes) but also with how they’re styling them. The key is mixing mismatched pieces for the ultimate “more is more” maximalist vibe. Consider pairing a seaside Mariner blouse with sporty track pants for an unexpected weekend look, or opt for striped denim jeans and a pinstripe jacket for a laid-back yet stylish casual Friday at the office.

4. Gingham

What feels more like spring than a gingham print? Not much. So, bring on the jams, jellies and the whole picnic spread because the checked pattern is set to be a popular choice this spring. It can be as bold as The Row’s large, checkered coat from their spring runway, or as subtle as the gingham lining on a Bottega Veneta jacket. A tartan pattern is naturally eye-catching, so pairing it back with classic blue jeans is one of the easiest ways to wear it (though I’m also loving the idea of toughening up the pastoral print with touches of leather for an unexpected juxtaposition).
