Ooh la la Olympics—from the wild opening ceremony performances to the medalists, I’m riveted (along with 34.5 million of my fellow sports fans). The Games are giving insight into family dynamics and body positivity, and for me, some mad style hero worship. I just watch Sha’Carri Richardson sail through the 100 meter prelims and thought, damn that Vogue subject looks so cool in her braids, claw nails and shortie unitard.

The petite sprinter is only 5’1” but she dependably gives mad style to rival any streetstyle social media star. She’s inspired me to search out her signature look, one-piece shorts outfits that are newly appearing in my favorite athleisure collections, from lululemon to Skims. (And of course from Nike, Richardson’s sponsor.) I like the style for its no-thought ease and the way it’s discreet across my belly (because I’m not the proud owner of a sprinter’s 8-pack midsection, okay?). And where I live in Los Angeles, just throwing on a pair of shoes and maybe a sweater with a shortie unitard qualifies as an entire look to take from beach hike to café. Here are the picks I’ll be shopping to feel cute like Sha’Carri—although honestly I might just be wearing the look to watch her from the couch.
