Sarah Ferguson Just Popped Up in Rhode Island in a Gorgeous Black Floral Dress & It’s the Perfect Transitional Fall Piece

For anyone that adores the royals (us!), this is not a drill: Sarah Ferguson popped up in Rhode Island this past weekend for a book event celebrating her bestselling historical romance novel, A Most Intriguing Lady, and we were thrilled to see her stateside. But that’s not all: The Duchess of York was glowing in a black floral dress, designed by Jason Wu. It’s sold out—womp—but we found tons of similar options (like this one from Ulla Johnson, $520). Here’s why it’s perfect for fall.

First and foremost, the darker tone of the dress. Augmented by a smattering of bright and poppy florals, it’s a lovely way to bridge the summer-to-fall gap. Fergie added her own flair to the look, too, styling the dress with a blue cobalt belt. (We approve!)

There’s more: Her dress—with it’s billowy sleeves and bold florals—carries a romantic vibe and one that’s totally in line with the theme of the Duchess of York’s book, but still feels moody enough that you can wear it straight into autumn.
