Ballet flats are back, baby, and Meghan Markle’s choice to kick off her heels and pair them with skinny jeans for a dinner at a sushi restaurant in Los Angeles last week is something we’re thrilled to endorse. For one thing, the entire look—her Toujours sweater from La Ligne ($295), Anine Bing jeans ($230) and flats—screams French girl chic. But it’s also trendy—and something our millennial self would totally wear. Markle’s choice of flats? A metallic style from Chanel from a past season. The good news: We found several identical—and more affordable—pairs (like this one from Steve Madden that’s on sale for $60).

Almost an exact replica—delicate bow included.

Handmade in Spain, this pair is a slightly more luxe alternative.

OK, so it’s not an exact replica, but it’s a chance to experiment with a slightly different style. (FYI, Mary Jane ballet flats are also trending for spring.)

More about Markle’s dinner: The Duchess of Sussex was spotted dining out with Terry Wood, the executive producer of Oprah’s Harpo Productions company. A casual look for a high stakes conversation about future projects? Perhaps. Still, we love Markle’s effortless style.

It’s worth noting that this was the second time that Markle stepped out in ballet flats that day. Earlier that afternoon, she enjoyed lunch at Cipriani’s in Beverly Hills with her wedding dress designer, Claire Waight Keller, and paired an all-black look with Aquazzura flats (they’re also past season).

Bottom line: We’re here for her low-key style and thrilled that she’s a fan of the most practical shoe silhouette of all time.
