London Fashion Trends
Paula Boudes for PureWow

As one of my favorite stylish cities, I often look to London for fashion trends, whether it’s the quintessential countryside barn coat to survive the drizzly months ahead or the return of Hunter Wellies. Which is why I’m taking full advantage of my life across the pond to scope out what the city’s chicest residents are wearing. Here’s what’s trending in London right now, and how you can get the look stateside.

1. Faux-Fur Coats

Fashionable Hungarian women aren’t the only ones rocking faux-fur outerwear this season. Many folks across the pond are reaching for fluffy and cozy jackets this season. From vintage designer treasures in Notting Hill and Shoreditch to affordable finds at Target and Marks & Spencer, faux-fur jackets are practically everywhere in London, and they are the perfect way to keep a little warmer as you wait for that summer heat to set in.

2. Head-to-Toe Blues

While I’m still seeing plenty of English women sprinkle in burgundy accents, there’s one other color on the rise in London right now: blue. The other day, I was out walking in the city when I spotted this fabulous woman in a blue-toned monochromatic ensemble. To say she looked chic would be an understatement, and I love how it provides some color yet can pass as a neutral. The key to perfecting the look like a Londoner is to mix and match different shades of blue, like sporting a cerulean wrap coat atop a baby blue sweater and navy, pinstripe trousers.

3. Oversize Blazers + Studded Belts

Women after my own heart, London locals aren’t retiring their oversize blazers anytime soon no matter what the ever-changing trends say. We’re so familiar with styling them face open and draped over a tank top or T-shirt, but English women are being innovative with this suiting staple and wearing it wrapped across their body, cinched at the waist with a statement studded belt for that makeshift hourglass jacket moment. Simple and easy to recreate, this is a great way to transform pieces that you might already have in your closet.

4. Double Denim

It may be named the Canadian tuxedo, but Londoners seem to be claiming it as their own this season. Whether it’s an overcast day or you’re merely looking to add some nonchalant style to your ensemble, women in London know that doubling up on denim can take your outfit from drab to fab. Though this will work with almost any shade of denim, I’d suggest opting for dark washes that are nearly identical if you want the outfit to look elevated and cohesive. Best of all, it doesn’t matter if those denim bottoms are paired with a jean jacket or a true-blue button-up. Try layering other items with it, like a sweater and tee (pictured above), to break up the material, too.

5. Track Pants

I’d say I identify more as a Posh Spice than Sporty Spice, but after seeing so many British women strolling about in athletic track pants, I’m ready to buy a pair in every color. What really makes the pants so special is how they’re styled. Instead of embracing the sporty vibes with a grungy graphic tee and running shoes, Londoners are piling on textures, materials and colors. In fact, just the other week, I was taking the bus when I saw a woman walking below in classic Adidas track pants, a chunky sweater, a fabulous faux-fur coat and Onitsuka Tiger trainers. Everything about her look was overstimulating in all the right ways, so don’t underestimate the power of a track pant, people.

6. Smart Trainers

Speaking of Onitsuka Tiger trainers, Londoners just can’t get enough of stylish kicks—including the beloved Adidas Sambas, among many others. Gone are the days of the classic crisp white sneakers. These days, London locals are sporting bold, sporty-inspired sneakers with metallic finishes and vibrant colorways, adding an eye-catching pop to neutral outfits or offering a striking contrast to textured or patterned pieces. I’ve especially noticed a growing trend of women opting for chic suede trainers, despite the city’s frequent rain. It’s a clear sign that a little precipitation won’t stop fashionistas from rocking their favorite footwear.
