Hollywood’s biggest night is officially underway and, per usual, Laverne Cox is stealing the show with her stunning ensemble.
During last year's Oscars ceremony, the 51-year-old actress turned heads in a glamorous Disney Princess-inspired look, but for this year's event, Cox stepped out in an elegant gold-and-black gown, courtesy of Manfred Thierry Mugler. The mermaid dress features a metallic-gold bustier with a plunging neckline and a black neck sash that doubles as a flowing cape.
The actress, who is hosting the red carpet pre-show on E!, accessorized the look with vintage star earrings by Mulger and an Al Zain pendant necklace. Meanwhile, she styled her hair in an intricate, regal updo.
On Instagram, the star shared footage of herself modeling the glamorous gown, with Billie Eilish's Oscar-nominated song "What Was I Made For?" playing in the background. She also broke down the "the story of the look," giving a brief shoutout to her stylists and makeup team.
In response, fans flooded the comments section with fire and heart emojis. One follower said, "You're getting sharper and sharper every time on the red carpet!" Another added, "Absolutely beautiful!"
When asked about how she puts her outfits together, the Orange is the New Black star told Popsugar in an interview, "It's about knowing my body and showing off this body I've worked so hard for. I'm a self-made woman in every sense of the word—well, with some medical help. But every woman needs to figure out how she wants to dress and present herself to the world. I love high fashion, but a lot of it is not made for curvy girls."
