The Princess of Wales is no stranger to repeating outfits, but lately there is one particular pair of pants Middleton apparently can’t get enough of. Eagle-eyed fans were quick to recognize the navy blue, wide-leg trousers Princess Catherine wore on a January 26, 2023 outing to Windsor Foodshare, a food bank not far from their new home at Adelaide Cottage, as a favorite pair of the royal. And lucky for anyone hoping to copy Middleton’s chic ‘fit, we managed to track down the exact pants she’s so obsessed with.

The princess was first spotted in Jigsaw’s Sport Luxe wide-leg trousers back in 2018 during a visit to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus. It appears she may have rediscovered them in her closet recently, because there have been at least four occasions in the past year that Middleton has stepped out in the classic style. They are, in fact, the very same trousers dubbed Kate’s “puddle pants” moment from August 2022. Unfortunately, it appears that exact style is sold out for now (fingers crossed for a restock soon), but Jigsaw does have a very similar silhouette, the Crosshatch Mason Trouser, available on its site for £140 (about $173 USD).
Of course, the best thing about such a timeless pair of pants is that there are lots of similar styles that are currently in stock and that don’t require a royal budget. Here, six pairs of enviable navy trousers inspired by the Princess of Wales beloved favorites.
1. Jigsaw Crosshatch Mason Trousers
Jigsaw
If you want to rock the exact same brand as the Princess of Wales, this Jigsaw pair looks remarkably similar to her sold out style, featuring the same seam detailing down the front and a loose-cut leg. Note, the sizes listed are UK sizes so be sure to double check the size conversion chart before you add to cart. Oh, and as an added bonus, these pants are also machine washable.
2. J.Crew Sydney Wide-Leg Pants
J.Crew
These stretch wool stunners are definitely our next top pick to get the Middleton look because they come in a wide range of sizes, including both Petite and Tall lengths. Reviews suggest they run true to size and are wonderfully comfortable, with multiple shoppers saying they actually own them in more than one color. Just know, they are dry-clean only.
3. Lane Bryant Knit Flare Pants
Lane Bryant
This gorgeous plus size pair by Lane Bryant is a bit of a brighter navy than Middleton’s pants, but does feature that same seam detailing down the front of the legs. They also come in black for those who want a darker hue, and both are made from the same incredibly comfortable, smoothing scuba fabric. They also come in regular, short and long lengths so everyone can get in on the style.
4. Banana Republic Siena Wool Pants
Banana Republic
For a slightly slimmer leg, try this Banana Republic trouser which is sort of halfway between a straight-leg and a kicked flare. The lightweight wool material is great for all seasons (though it will require you to either hand wash or go to the dry cleaners), and there are four inseam lengths to choose from, depending on your height. Just note, these were designed to be worn with heels, so if you’re more of a flats or sneakers kind of gal, you might want to check out an inseam length a bit shorter than your usual.
Abercrombie & Fitch
Abercrombie & Fitch’s wide-leg pant has a pleated waist rather than seams down the legs, but still has the same overall effect as the royal’s timeless, chic trousers. And according to reviews, they are wonderfully flattering. They do apparently run a smidge small in the waist, however, so you may want to consider going up one size from your usual for a more comfortable fit.
6. M.M.LaFleur The Horton Pant
M.M.LaFleur
If you’re looking for more of an investment piece, we cannot recommend this M.M.LaFleur style more highly. The stretch wool-twill is supremely comfy and is also machine-washable (a major bonus, in our opinion). And multiple reviews mention how well the cut fits on a wide range of body types including larger thighs, petite frames, fuller bellies and long legs, just to name a few. They’re basically the office-approved trouser version of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants jeans.
