Kate Middleton Wowed at the Earthshot Prize Awards in a Lime Green Dress and a Necklace Worn by Princess Diana

Kate Middleton wore an apropos ensemble to the Earthshot Prize Awards in Boston the weekend and her look ended up stealing the show.

The Princess of Wales opted for a bright green Solace London gown. The brand's Sabina maxi dress features a dramatic off-the-shoulder neckline, a thick belt around the waist and a skirt with a slit down the back. Princess Catherine showed up to the event alongside her hubby, Prince William, who sported a chic black tuxedo.

The earthly-colored ensemble was quite fitting for the ceremony, which honors innovators who are working to protect the environment and find solutions to climate change.

Middleton was one of the presenters at the ceremony, and she was among a roster of major celebrity names, including Rami Malek, Catherine O'Hara, Clara Amfo, Daniel Dae Kim, David Attenborough and Shailene Woodley.

Along with her bright green dress, the Princess of Wales wore tan Gianvito Rossi Rania pumps and an emerald necklace that has a special history.

In the past, the late Princess Diana (aka the former Princess of Wales) rocked this green choker on numerous occasions, once even styling it as a headband. The necklace was loaned from the Royal Collection Trust, and according to The Court Jeweller, the piece originally belonged to Queen Mary of Teck. Princess Catherine wore this statement accessory along with a pair of matching emerald earrings from Asprey.

As noted by the Kate Middleton Style Blog, Princess Catherine's gown was not only fitting in color, but she also made a sustainable choice by renting it.

The blog pointed out that the gown was loaned by HURR Collective, a company that rents out luxury dresses. On the HURR site, it says, “Fast fashion has created a demand for ‘newness’ that has no place in a sustainable future. Something had to be done to remedy the bad habits of the industry. A solution? Renting not buying.”

And according to HURR, “339kg of CO2 were saved by renting the dress, rather than buying it new and wearing it once.” The Kate Middleton Style Blog added, “The company say that’s the equivalent of 6 trees or driving 1209 miles in a car.”

What a stunning and sustainable choice!
