Let me preface this by saying that I’m a huge fan of the U.K.-born brand ME+EM. So are the royals, which is why it’s always a thrill to see them step out in one of the brand’s contemporary designs. The latest to wear it? Sarah Ferguson—Fergie—who just appeared on the cover of HELLO! to celebrate the U.K. launch of her latest book, A Woman of Intrigue. For the photo shoot, she is wearing a shirt dress with beautiful piping in a striking (and spring-like) mint green ($945). Not only is it still in stock, it’s ever-so-slightly reminiscent of a ME+EM shirtdress worn not once, but twice by Kate Middleton. Here’s why.

Kate first wore her ME+EM shirtdress all the way back in 2021 to meet with a little girl named Mila, who was battling leukemia, and whose portrait was included in Kate’s “Hold Still” photography project, an initiative she spearheaded with the National Portrait Gallery as a way to highlight the experiences of U.K. citizens during the pandemic. In 2023, shortly after King Charles’s coronation, we saw Kate repeat the style at the Chelsea Flower Show.

In such a vibrant pink, it’s quite memorable—and while Fergie’s shirtdress is in a completely different pastel hue (hot mint, which I’ll say is equally vibrant), the silhouette, the belt, the maxi length, even the silky fabric are just a handful of the details that make the style feel reminiscent of Kate’s. Again, it’s not the same, but even the dark piping on Fergie’s dress garners interest in the same way the dark color blocking on Kate’s dress did back when she first wore it in 2021.

If nothing else, Fergie’s choice for her HELLO! cover underlines the timeless versatility of ME+EM’s collection. I’m definitely contemplating adding this mint green number to my closet—but it also affirms the need to keep regular tabs on ME+EM’s upcoming collections. Looks that are Kate-inspired? I’m all in.

Back to Fergie—a huge congrats on her new book. If you need us, we’ll be keeping tabs on all her press tour outfits. After all, we’ve got some spring/summer shopping to do.
