Searches for “duvet coats” have been on the rise since the beginning of November and are expected to only continue on that upward track as we head into the new year.

What exactly Is a duvet coat? And how does it differ from A Regular Puffer?
Well, there are a few key style notes. First, the material used is softer than your typical winter jacket (especially waterproof styles, which tend to have a plastic-y feel) and has little to no shine. They all feature quilted detailing, some with intricate waves or close-knit diamonds, others with more spaced-out squares, to mimic the look of your baffle box bedding. And while many styles come in a wrap silhouette (giving the illusion that you simply wrapped yourself up in your duvet after it sprouted sleeves), some have a simple zipper or button closure. You won’t find any excess zippers, snaps, hardware or faux fur trims on these minimalist designs, but that just leaves room for you to play with brightly colored or patterned hats, gloves and scarves.
