As we head into 2022, New Yorkers are slowly but surely getting back to pounding the pavement and making things happen. What’s quite different, however, is that comfort when it comes to footwear can’t be compromised, not even for style.

If you ask me, that’s a beautiful place to be.

As NYC gals handle business this season, they’re reaching for these ultra-comfy shoes. From classics like Air Force 1s to on-trend gems like lug sole boots, these are the comfy shoes New Yorkers are going to see everywhere.

1. Lug Sole Boots

Lug sole boots are pretty much everywhere this season and for good reason. New York women are going to be reaching for these because they deliver the optimal mash-up of chic and grunge. They usually feature a low or platform heel and cushioned insoles which allows comfort and style to live in harmony.

2. Fuzzy Slide-ons

When you told your friends you were on the way 15 minutes ago and are rushing out of the house, what better shoe to slide into than these fuzzy beauties? Before temps drop to famous frigid NYC numbers, consider these your go-tos for everything from sweater dresses to that black jeans and moto jacket combo.

3. Air Force 1s

At this point, Air Force 1s are an NYC staple, and you’d be hard-pressed to attend any fashion-forward event where someone doesn’t have these on. Despite the bulky soles, they’re a surprisingly great match for everything from tailored cropped pants to silky midi skirts.

4. Classic Penny Loafers

Loafers are having a major moment no matter where you are. New Yorkers are wasting no time incorporating these classic school-yard ready shoes into their fall 2021 wardrobe lineup. We’re seeing them paired with chunky socks, tailored pants, jeans, midi skirts — you name it.

5. The Sock Boot

If we’re going to rock a heeled boot, you’d better believe it’s going to be a sock boot. In this case, Everlane’s famous “Glove Boot” not only fits the bill, but has become a total no-brainer for towing the line between chic and comfy.

6. Clogs

Again, slipping into your shoes as you head out is the ideal. Clogs and mules are huge this season and are going to be at the top of New Yorkers’ lists in the weeks before any major temperature drops. This pair is actually dubbed “The Brooklyn Mule” which is appropriate, and they feature a faux fur lining for extra levels of cozy.

7. Retro Sneakers

What’s cooler than a retro sneaker? Not much. Whether you pair them with cropped trousers and a chunky sweater or even a flowy dress and leather jacket, it’s really hard to miss when it comes to brands like New Balance and Converse.
