I haven’t worn a strapless bra since prom…12 years ago. As someone with a large bust, I’ve always had a hard time finding a strapless bra that lifts and supports the girls, while being comfortable enough to wear all day. So instead, I’ve resorted to using nipple pasties and suffering underboob sweat—or I go braless (depending on the shirt, of course). It turns out a few of my colleagues have also had trouble finding a strapless bra that fits their big boobs, so I reached out to Mila Sojanovic, a bra expert and business manager at Bravissimo for some help.

What Is the Most Common Mistake People Make When Buying a Strapless Bra for Big Boobs?
Many of us are quick to discard a bra if it doesn’t fit on the first try. However, Stojanovic wants us to give it another shot and not lose hope just yet. “It’s always important to adjust yourself into the bra (at any size and in every style of bra). Sometimes it looks like the bra doesn’t fit, but you just need to make a few adjustments. For starters, you want to check that the wire sits underneath your boobs, right against your chest. Have a little wiggle to get yourself into the bra,” she suggests.

Have you ever gone bra shopping only to find one that looks amazing, but realize they don’t actually carry your size? Well, Lane Bryant is having none of that and ranks high for their inclusive size range. Whether you’re a 34B or a 54H, the brand has a wide selection of strapless bras. Out of all the bras I’ve tested, I found this one to be the best fit for me. At first, I was taken aback by the padding, but it didn’t hinder the look and feel of the bra. The curve design gives it a stylish flair and provides great full coverage. My favorite feature is the wide comfort band that has five clasps in the back, which helps lift and support the girls. Overall, it’s super comfortable and I didn’t have to adjust it throughout the day—nor did the underwire dig into my skin. The bra also comes with optional straps that can be worn in seven ways and it’s available in six different colors—though I highly recommend the deep taupe.

2. Thirdlove 24/7 Classic Strapless Bra

- Aesthetics: 19/20
- Comfortability: 18/20

When searching for the best strapless bra for big boobs, Thirdlove was recommended repeatedly. I decided to give it a try and went for the classic black strapless design. I loved how well it paired with all of my blouses and tanks. It provided full coverage and lifted the girls up for the entire day without any padding. Thanks to the silicone grip located across the top and bottom of the bra, I didn’t have to worry about spillage or slippage. Despite being my exact size, the underwire dug into my skin a bit, so I would size up next time for a more comfortable fit.

Best Cup Design of Strapless Bra for Big Boobs
3. Curvy Kate Luxe Strapless Bra
What We Like

What We Don't Like

- Functionality: 19/20
- Quality: 20/20
- Aesthetics: 17/20
- Comfortability: 18/20
- Total: 93/100
This strapless bra has curvy in the name, so my expectations were high. The rounded design and lightly padded cups provided just the right amount of coverage. I’m not a huge fan of the sewing lines across the cups though. I know it’s probably necessary for extra support and lift, but it shows through a lot of shirts. The brand also claims that the bra is seamless under clothes, but if you wear tight-fitting tanks, it will most definitely show through. I would suggest opting for darker tops as a workaround. Overall, it’s a comfortable bra and the caramel color is a nice neutral to add to my collection.

I hate it when you can see my bra through my shirt. This Curvy Kate strapless solves this common problem—and then some. The fabric is soft and seamless, so I can barely see it, even when I’m wearing a tight-fitting shirt. The round cups also offer great support and lift, while being slip-free so I can wear it all day long. Another nice feature that makes this bra stand apart from the rest on this list is the additional hook and clasp piece, so I can extend the band for secure fit.

Best Daily Strapless Bra for Big Boobs
5. Wacoal Red Carpet Strapless Bra
What We Like
- comfortable fit
- offers full coverage
- no spillage
What We Don't Like
- confusing sizing
- boobs look flatter in a dress
Wacoal
- Value: 17/20
- Functionality: 20/20
- Quality: 20/20
- Aesthetics: 18/20
- Comfortability: 19/20
- Total: 94/100
This Wacoal bra aims to flatter your upper region, offer full coverage and hold the girls in place. According to Executive Managing Editor Catrina Yohay, the strapless fit is great for daily wear due to the flexible cups that don’t budge at all. “If your pet peeve about strapless bras is that they don't stay up or you're constantly dealing with boob spillage, then this is the bra for you. The band is locked and loaded without veering into uncomfortable territory, and the full coverage cups will (literally) have you covered all night long,” she says. “I wore it for an evening out to dinner and a full day at the office and didn't have to hike it up once. I was also shocked by how comfortable it was since the band is on the tighter side. I expected to want to rip it off halfway through the workday but once I got busy, I hardly noticed it.” However, she discovered it doesn’t work with every outfit. Due to a lack of padding, Yohay felt it didn’t give enough shape to the girls: “I actually preferred it under shirts and sweaters, since it definitely flattened me out. I wouldn't reach for it if I was wearing a dress or a sexy tank top. For me, it’s more of a daytime strapless bra.”

Sexiest Strapless Bra for Big Boobs
6. Natori Feathers Strapless Bra
What We Like
- sexy style
- has a sweetheart neckline
- no-slip grip
What We Don't Like
- lace can get itchy
- not great with tight-fitting shirts
Natori

- Functionality: 20/20
- Quality: 19/20
- Aesthetics: 20/20
- Comfortability: 18/20
- Total: 94/100
If you have big boobs, you know there’s a lack of bra options that are sexy and stylish. Natori is ready to change that narrative. Their feather strapless bra features molded plunge pads, lined lace along the band and comfy mesh. For Commerce Editor Olivia Dubyak, she found a new sexy staple to add to her wardrobe. “I never think of strapless bras as sexy, but the lacy band and shape of the cups make this one a super sleek option. I would recommend this bra to anyone with big boobs, especially if you're looking for a sultrier look,” shares Dubyak. “As an everyday bra this wouldn't be my number one pick, but for special occasions. It supports my chest nicely but doesn't give much of a lift, which is fine, but a nice-to-have. It's fairly comfortable, but if you're sensitive to textured bras, you may not feel fully comfortable.”

Best Bralette Style Strapless Bra for Big Boobs
7. Commando Butter Soft Strapless Bralette
What We Like
- comfortable fit
- no-slip grip
- versatile style
What We Don't Like

Commando

- Functionality: 19/20
- Quality: 19/20
- Aesthetics: 20/20
- Comfortability: 19/20
- Total: 93/100
Surprisingly a bralette can work for larger chests. Just look at this Commando find for reference. Made of modal and elastane, the blend offers support and molds nicely to any cup size. Fans praise the bralette’s ultra-soft material, removable padding and adjustable back closure for a seamless fit. As Dubyak shares, “This is a versatile pick because I've worn it with strapless dresses and even a flowy workout tank for a walk in the park to avoid sports bra tan lines. The non-slip silicone strips along the top and bottom really do keep it in place, even when I'm sweating. I also love that I don't have to put the bra on over my head because it has clasps on the back like a regular bra even though it's a bralette.” She continues, “Honestly, this bra is *chef's kiss*, I don't love that I can see straight across the neckline when I'm wearing lower cut shirts, but ultimately, it's got everything I want in a strapless bra. Also, as with most bras with removable cups, putting the bra on can be a little tricky if the pads fold.”

Are you looking for more lift? Dubyak tested this Pink strapless bra and loved the push-up design. She shares, “This one has been my go-to even when I'm not wearing a strapless top because it's comfortable and supportive. I need a little extra lift after breastfeeding and it does a great job at pushing my chest up without spilling forward like a lot of strapless push up bras,” she says. “This is a great bra for anyone with big boobs who want a lift. If you prefer a wide band and structure, it's a top choice in my book. I've always loved the material of VS bras, too, so the soft material doesn't chafe under your arms or under the band either.”

What to Consider When Shopping for Strapless Bras for Big Boobs
- Support: As a large busted girlie, I’m all about support and our bra expert agrees. “Comfort is key in my book. If you’re feeling unsupported by your strapless, it can ruin the vibe and the outfit! Once you’re feeling good with the foundations of your outfit, the rest will flow! You can feel assured you’re not going to spill out and that you’re uplifted,” says Stojanovic.
- Thick Band: According to Stojanovic, you’ll want to stay away from unlined bras and choose a strapless bra with a thicker band. “By being a little thicker, the [strapless bra] can support you better. Without that, it would be like wearing an unlined bra, cutting the straps off and expecting it to still hold you up,” she adds.
- Cup Size: “Similar principle to wearing the correct shoe size/style for your feet. The cup and band size work together to get you a great fit. I recommend going to a store or having a virtual fitting with a bra expert to find the perfect fit,” says Stojanovic.
- Clasps: Most bras have three hook and eye clasps; however, bras for larger busts might have four rows for a more secure fit. Fashion tip: “I recommend wearing your bras on the loosest (last) hooks, as that’s the original measurement of the bra. Then, as you wear the bra in and it loosens over time, you can get it feeling like when you first got it by adjusting it to the middle hooks, and so forth,” she shares.
- Style: It’s not just about choosing a strapless bra you fancy. As Stojanovic explains, “I advise that you figure out which style would best suit your outfits. [Ask yourself,] Which one would you get more wear out of? Do you mind the seams on the bra? Does your outfit require it to be a smooth strapless bra? What kind of necklines do you like plunging vs straight across?”
Frequently Asked Questions
What Is the Correct Way of Putting on a Strapless Bra?
If you’re like me, you’re accustomed to hooking the clasps together before turning the bra so that the cups face you and viola. But during a virtual fitting with Bravissmo, I was surprised to learn that this technique can actually stretch out your bra and reduce the longevity of it. Mind blown. The correct way to wear a strapless bra is to hook the clasps from the back. “You want to leave your arms out of the straps (ignore if strapless anyway) to begin with. Then, pop the bra cups against your boobs with the underwire as close to your under-boob as possible, and hook the back up with your hands behind you,” says Stojanovic. That said, the expert doesn’t shame the traditional way; she just notes to be gentle when swiveling the bra around.
How Do You Keep Your Breasts Up in a Strapless Bra?
If you’re dealing with your bra falling down or feeling too tight, the expert suggests either getting fitted by a professional or sizing up/down depending on the issue. “Ideally, your band size should feel firm but comfortable, not restrictive or tight. It should feel like a hug that supports you. The cups should also encase all your boobs without any spillage or gaping. If your boobs are spilling out, I’d recommend you go up a cup or two depending on how much they spill out. But if the band is feeling too restrictive, but the cup is fitting well, then go up and band size and down a cup size to balance it out,” she says.
Is It Better to Size Up or Down for a Strapless Bra?
The expert recommends going with what feels most comfortable. She shares, “Often that won’t be going up a size, because that can loosen the band and therefore decrease the support and uplift. Ideally look for something closest to your regular bra size. But if it feels loose and you want more lift, try a band smaller and a cup bigger.”
