Can you believe Rosetta Stone has been around since 1992? It used to be all the rage years ago (in fact, anyone with a subscription to the language learning software had bragging rights when it first hit the scene). Now, in 2024, it's still one of the best platforms to learn a language from home. Not only is it more convenient, but it's also *a lot* more affordable than most language courses when you opt for the lifetime subscription plan, which gives you unlimited access to learn all 25 languages offered for, well, life. And right now, you can snag it for as low as $199 (was $399) during the Rosetta Stone sale for Labor Day 2024—but you only have through the holiday weekend to get the discount.

If you're wondering why you should buy it now, just think about how learning a new language will benefit you in the long run, especially when you've got a big vacation planned. Let's say you're headed to Paris (um, jealous)—it wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up some French so you can order escargots like a pro and not totally feel like a tourist while you're there. (From experience, the French are actually big on greetings, so knowing how to say “Bonjour” and “Bonsoir” will get you far.) Plus, it makes a great gift for the whole family to prep for the trip together!

The bonus is that you can learn French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch and so many more languages right on your phone, tablet or computer. And reviewers say it's *so* easy to navigate the lessons, even their tech-challenged parents can do it. After all, it's never too late to learn a new language, and the TikTok below is a shining example.

To dive deeper into what Rosetta Stone has to offer, you can expect more than just standard courses comprised of five- to ten-minute lessons to get you familiar with pronunciation and grammar. There's also a Phrasebook feature that allows you to flip through common phrases (sort of like digital flashcards), so you can prepare yourself for everyday interactions at the airport or store. Meanwhile, the Stories function lets you listen to real conversations in the language you're learning to help build your comprehension skills. The course also provides plenty of opportunity for practical language application with a Seek and Speak feature, which challenges learners to take photos of everyday objects and learn the vocabulary.

However, I'm particularly intrigued by the live lessons, which are essentially expert-led live courses that you can attend and interact with through polls, chats and more alongside other learners. And if you miss the 25-minute live stream (or get distracted midway through), you can access them later in the library of on-demand videos. Um, score!
