We may be in the throes of summer, but the first day of school will be here before you know it. With that comes prep: Does everyone have shoes that fit? A backpack without a giant hole and a laptop that’s not wheezing its last, dying breath? If the answer to any of those questions is no, Prime Day 2024, which takes place July 16 and 17, is the time to stock up on everything your kiddos could possibly need for the school year. Here, I’ve rounded up 12 of the best back-to-school Prime Day deals, from preschool-friendly water bottles and cute bento lunch boxes to Herschel backpacks and Samsung tablets that high schoolers (and even college students) will covet. And, I can’t forget you, dear parents: from an award-winning printer to food storage accessories that’ll make meal planning and hectic weeknights breezy, there’s something for you, too. So get ready to shop the best Prime Day deals of 2024, and when mid-August (or September) rolls around, the whole family will be good to go.

Send your preschooler and kindergarten with this cute (and perfectly proportioned) bento lunchbox, which includes a stainless steel fork and spoon. There are five compartments: one large (fits standard sandwich bread), two small (great for fruit and crackers) and two oblong (add veggies and/or a juice box). Everything is dishwasher safe, making cleanup a breeze at the end of the school day. And, best of all, in lunch box testing, editors found that it was surprisingly durable—surviving drops without cracking or busting open—yet the latches were still easy enough for kids to open on their own.

Between the actual holiday season and Maycember (IYKYK), the school year is always hectic. These magnetic dry-erase boards can help bring some semblance of order. Tack them in the fridge so the kids (and you) can keep track of important events (don’t forget costumes for the school musical), chores (builds character!), homework and the bevy of extracurricular activities they’re bound to be involved in. During Prime Day 2024, you can score four for $8.

You may know them for the infamous cup, but Stanley also makes water bottles in a slew of fun colors (16, to be exact), with shades Citron and Pool on sale during the mega-savings event. Your elementary schooler probably doesn’t need to haul around 40 ounces of water, but 24 will do nicely. Double-wall insulation keeps drinks cold for up to 12 hours, and the tough stainless steel will weather the inevitable drops on the blacktop. The leak-proof lid has a push-button top to prevent spills, and the wide mouth means easy cleaning. Though, if you don’t want to wash by hand, it’s dishwasher safe, too.

Between all the kids’ activities (you signed them up for lacrosse, violin, volunteering at the senior center, swim team and the after-school business club) and your own job, you feel lucky you have time to even microwave some semblance of a dinner and pack a lunch so you’re not blowing $150 a week on takeout. Take advantage of Prime Day 2024 and hop on the meal prep train with this 24-piece storage container set. They’re made from ultra-tough borosilicate glass and are dishwasher, oven, microwave and freezer safe. The airtight silicone seal prevents spills and leaks. It’s a popular set with buyers, having racked up nearly 13,000 ratings and an average of 4.6 stars.

They’ll be the envy of the entire preschool when they show up with this pint-sized Hydro Flask. (And also, the most hydrated.) With eight colors, including Wisteria, Grass and Peony, this vacuum-insulated stainless steel water bottle will keep drinks cold for up to 24 hours. There’s an easy-to-clean straw cap and bottle boot with a name tag on the bottom. Both the lid and bottle are dishwasher safe.

Crocs may be comfy, but they also run you at least $50. Fine if you’re an adult who’ll wear them for a while. Painful if you’re a parent whose kids seem to need new shoes every other month. These clogs, which reviewers have noted are super comfy, have a similar design for half the price. They come in eight colors with grippy soles and can be worn everywhere, from the playground to swim practice.

When it comes to memory, writing things by hand trumps typing on a keyboard. But these days, everything is digital. Have your college student ditch the laptop and opt for the Samsung Galaxy A9+ tablet instead. The ten-inch tablet has a 12-hour battery life and 64GB of memory—plenty of storage for those copious notes. Plus, the included S pen will allow them to take notes by hand, annotate documents and continue the pastime of bored students for a millenia: doodle. When they’re off the clock, they can enjoy watching their favorite shows and listening to their Spotify playlists, thanks to the razor-sharp display and Dolby Atmos surround sound.

Nothing says “back to school” like a fresh pair of shoes, and your elementary schooler will need some so they can tear up the blacktop in the fall. (What beats a friendly game of wall ball, foursquare or good-old-fashioned tag.) The sizes run from 1 to 7 years old, and the shoes come in a whopping 37 colors. Select sizes and colors are on sale during Prime Day, including Vintage Indigo and black. Parents rave that the sneakers are comfortable, durable and great for kiddos with wide feet.

It’s hard to deny the convenience of plastic storage bags. They hold everything. The PB&J sandwich. A handful of carrots. Just the right amount of chips. And, no cleaning required. However…they’re not the best when it comes to being planet friendly, and that’s where Stasher bags come in. These are reusable, resealable, dishwasher safe silicone storage bags. (And did I mention they’re also microwave and oven safe?) I took them for a test when evaluating the best sustainable brands, and can attest that they held up beautifully.

If your teen’s laptop is wheezing its last breath (and threatening to combust), Prime Day 2024 is the time for an upgrade. The 15.6-inch Acer Aspire Go features the Intel Core i3 processor and 128GB of flash storage. Windows 11 is also now equipped with a generative AI assistant, Copilot. The laptop is also equipped with the Acer Bluelight Shield, which reduces blue light levels.

PureWow editors named the HP DeskJet 2855e one of the best printers for families, and now it’s on sale for Prime Day 2024. “After reviewing—and testing—the HP Deskjet 2855e, this printer checks all the boxes, but goes beyond: It’s easy to set up (expect to spend no more than 15 minutes), is compact (the dimensions are just 12 x 17 inches) and operates wirelessly, which means you can just as easily print from your computer as you can from your phone (the HP app, plus a wifi connection is required),” writes PureWow’s senior director of special projects and royals Rachel Bowie. “As for the printer’s actual output, it printed in both black and white and color in under 10 seconds and also includes the ability to scan and copy.”

A new backpack is always a fun way to kick off a new school year, and you can’t go wrong with Herschel’s classic silhouette. The laptop compartment will accommodate a 15- or 16- inch computer, and the fabric is made from recycled water bottles. Students can choose from 22 colors, including Ash Rose, Light Taupe, Bronze Brown and Ivy Green.
