‘The White Lotus Season’ 3 Teaser Just Dropped—and I Already Have a Theory

So many interesting hints

Ready your luggage, because it's almost time to check back into The White Lotus.

After sharing a cryptic Instagram update that reads, "In one hour, karma comes for everyone," HBO surprised fans with a brand-new teaser for the upcoming third season (which drops in February, FYI). As I expected, it features a stunning tropical backdrop, rich vacationers and some haunting imagery alluding to spirituality and death. (Think Buddhist monks, snakes and creepy dark forests.) Then, of course, there's the star-studded cast—including fan-favorite Natasha Rothwell, who makes her comeback as Belinda. But guys, there's one major detail I can't stop thinking about: The mysterious one-liners that hint at the next murder victim.

In the teaser, the family tries to enjoy their getaway in Thailand—complete with wild parties and booze—but before long, the guests start to get creeped out by this hotel. For one, the incomparable Parker Posey's character appears with a glass of wine in hand and reveals that she'll have to drink herself to sleep, and she whispers that "something is off." But then, the teaser cuts to Aimee Lou Wood's character as she urgently tells someone, "I've got a really bad feeling..."

That alone was enough to make me raise an eyebrow. But when I saw the final moment—when Wood's character says, "I almost died today. But we got the room comped, didn't we, babe?"—I thought: Perhaps this is a hint that she'll be the next victim...

I'm assuming that she and her much older partner (played by Walton Goggins) were definitely targeted by the masked robber, but I'm sensing that it's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the amount of chaos that will ensue.

The cast of The White Lotus season three, which takes place in Thailand, includes Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Tayme Thapthimthong, Christian Friedel, Julian Kostov, Morgana O’Reilly, Carrie Coon, Lek Patravadi, Shalini Peiris, Scott Glenn, Francesca Corney, Nicholas Duvernay and Arnas Fedaravičius. Lucky for fans (me included), the new episodes will be available to stream on Max starting February 16.
