In case you missed the season two finale of Prime Video's The Summer I Turned Pretty, it ends with Belly (Lola Tung) having a blast at volleyball camp and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) cheering her on from the sidelines. Meanwhile, Conrad (Christopher Briney) aces his exam, essentially securing a one-way ticket to Stanford, Taylor (Rain Spencer) strikes up a new romance with Steven (Sean Kaufman) and Laurel (Jackie Chung) steps in to save the summer beach house. But not everything is sunshine and roses, because Conrad is clearly still in love with Belly, and Jer is now in the awkward position of dating his brother's ex—even though he doesn't necessarily want to hurt his brother.

This brings us to our theory for season three: Conrad will continue to fight for Belly, which will ultimately cause tension between her and Jeremiah, giving Conrad another chance to win her back. Here's why.

First off, Jeremiah isn't 100 percent convinced that Belly really chose him over Conrad, and it's most obvious when he catches them together. (Remember their trip to the store for party supplies?) Also, Jere has literally admitted that he's been waiting for the ball to drop because of Belly's history with his brother. And tbh, we get it. Not only had she harbored a crush on Conrad since childhood, but she actually chose him over Jere the first time around, after he opened up to her about how he felt.

That alone crushed Jere to the point where he couldn't bear to see them together while they dated, even at family gatherings. So now, it's only natural that he's a bit trepidatious about seeing history repeating itself. And sadly, the fact that Belly has to constantly assure him that she truly wants him isn't a good sign.

Another reason we see trouble ahead for Jellyfish? The simple fact that Belly's emotions and decisions are ever-changing. To be fair, she's only 16 and she's been through so much. There was Susannah's death, and having to deal with her shifting relationships with the Fisher brothers has been such a complicated and messy process. But now, it seems like she and Jeremiah are in a good enough place to maintain a happy relationship. And it's good to see that she and Conrad are back to being friends.

Still, we can't help but wonder how she'll respond when she and Jere get into their first fight, or when she potentially sees Conrad having a fling with another girl. Will this cause her to have second thoughts about her choice? Most likely. And in a sense, we already got a taste of how things could pan out when Belly learned about Conrad begging Jere for his blessing to date her. Her emotional reaction, plus the confession that she would've fought harder for Conrad, was quite telling.

This brings us to our final point: It's possible that Belly hasn't fully gotten over Conrad. She may have mastered the art of setting certain boundaries while being friendly, and she may have been turned off by his immature behavior in the finale (my goodness, that car ride!). But it's likely that she still loves him and just refuses to admit or accept it because she doesn't want to. After all, Conrad has a lot of issues to work through and he needs to mature emotionally. Perhaps she's become more aware of this and just doesn't want to go down that path again. Perhaps Jere is the breath of fresh air she always needed, but we have a nagging feeling that it may only be temporary.

Honestly, we really hope that we're wrong on this one. But based on what we've seen throughout season two, there's no way Conrad's going to give up on Belly that easily.
