The story begins when a murder takes place at the White House during a fancy state dinner. When an eccentric detective named Cordelia Cupp (Aduba) is assigned to the case, she labels every single one of the 157 guests as suspects.
“Mr. President, this house needs to be treated like a crime scene,” she says in the clip.
The good news is everyone is willing to talk about what happened throughout the night. The bad news is that most of the tips are irrelevant, leaving Detective Cupp to sort through the clues to determine what’s important. To top it off, the suspects aren’t afraid to point fingers at each other.
“If you want to understand the White House residence, you have to understand this. We are the house,” Susan Kelechi Watson (This Is Us) says, referring to the staff members. “All these other people, they are not. It’s us versus them.”
The series has a mystery element, but it also has comedic aspects that will likely make you giggle throughout.
