Sounds like the FBI is in need of Peter Sutherland for ten more episodes: The Night Agent was just renewed by Netflix for season 2.

Less than a week after the series debuted on Netflix, a second season was greenlit by the streaming service. The news was announced on the official Night Agent Instagram account, with a post that read: “Yasss we're coming for Season 2 in 2024. The Night Agent is renewed by Netflix for Season 2!”

When The Night Agent premiered on March 23, it shot to the top of Netflix's list of most-watched shows in a matter of 48 hours. According to Netflix Tudum, the series became the third biggest premiere week of viewing across all Season 1 TV on the platform, and it appeared in the Top 10 in 93 different countries.

In a statement, the show's creator, Shawn Ryan, said: “The last week has been a whirlwind as we’ve finally been able to share The Night Agent with the world. To see the tremendous reaction to the show has been a great joy and is a credit to our cast, our writers, our directors, our crew and our partners at Sony Pictures Television and Netflix. We couldn't be any prouder or more excited to get cracking on Season 2 to share the further adventures of Night Action with our newfound fans.”

At the end of season 1 (spoiler alert!), Peter (played by Gabriel Basso) gets a major promotion, becoming an official night agent. In the final moments, we see him stepping onto a plane as he prepares to embark on a new mission. Oh, and he's enjoying his newfound romance with Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan). But what can viewers expect in season 2?

Ryan notes that season 2 will focus on Peter trying to balance this new job with his relationship. He says: “What does Peter getting on this plane and going somewhere (presumably overseas to enter into some new wild adventure) mean, with Rose going back to California to try to pursue her Silicon Valley dreams again? We certainly have some initial ideas.” He adds, “That’s one of the big questions we’d love to answer in Season 2.”

The Night Agent will return for 10 more episodes in 2024. We'll be anxiously waiting until we get an official release date.
