From attending Paris Fashion Week without a stitch of makeup to walking the red carpet with little-to-no cosmetics, Pamela Anderson isn’t afraid to show her natural beauty. This understated confidence came in handy for her latest role in The Last Showgirl.
Today, Roadside Attractions released the first official teaser for the upcoming film, where Anderson delivers a powerful performance that’s raw, riveting and possibly worthy of an Oscar.
In the trailer, Anderson stars as a veteran showgirl named Shelley, who has performed in the same stage production for 30 years. Everything changes when the long-running show comes to an end, and she’s forced to face the reality of being a modern-day performer.
“Las Vegas used to treat us like movie stars,” Anderson says in the clip. “The costumes, the sets—we were ambassadors for style and grace.”
In addition to Anderson, The Last Showgirl also stars Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Brenda Song (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody), Billie Lourd (Scream Queens), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween).
The Last Showgirl has been on my radar ever since it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September 2024. At the time, Anderson received positive reviews for her scene-stealing performance in the film, which is already getting Oscar buzz.
The actress hasn’t appeared in a major motion picture since 2017 when she reprised her role in the Baywatch reboot. The upcoming film will mark Anderson’s highly anticipated return to the big screen.
The Last Showgirl will hit theaters nationwide on January 10, 2025. *Sets calendar reminder*
