*Warning: Spoilers ahead*

Ready your knives and forks, because The Bear season 2 is about to serve up another dose of intense drama.

In season one of the FX drama, fine-dining chef Carmy Berzatto struggles to spearhead a rundown kitchen while dealing with his dark past. And after that shocking finale, fans and critics are hungry for answers. So, what’s next for Carmy? And what will become of his team?

We may not have answers yet, but thankfully, it won’t be too long before we’re reunited with our favorite chefs at The Original Beef. FX has just announced the official release date for The Bear season 2, and it’s actually coming sooner than we thought. Keep reading for details on The Bear season 2, including the cast, plot and more.

1. When Was The Bear Season 2 Confirmed?

In July 2022, just a month after the first season premiered, FX confirmed that the series is returning for a second season. Showrunners Christopher Storer and Joanna Calo said in a statement, “We are so grateful to FX, our insanely talented cast, our crew who worked hard, fast, and in the dead of winter, not to mention everyone who watched. And we can’t wait to bring you all back to The Bear in 2023.”

Per TVLine, FX entertainment president Eric Schrier also released a statement that said, “The Bear has exceeded our wildest creative, critical and commercial expectations. We deeply appreciate the brilliant work led by creator and co-showrunner Christopher Storer and co-showrunner Joanna Calo. Jeremy Allen White’s lead performance is spectacular, as are those of his co-stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce and Liza Colón-Zayas. We can’t wait to get to work on season two.”

2. When Will The Bear Season 2 Premiere?

The Bear season two release date is just around the corner. Recently on Instagram, the page dedicated to the show posted the promo poster for the new season and shared the premiere date in the caption. Season 2 is set to premiere on (drumroll, please) June 22, 2023.

3. What Is the Plot for Season 2?

The season one finale ends with Carmy finding a note from his late brother, in addition to cash stashed in tomato cans. So, it’s likely that season two will follow the chef’s efforts to revamp the restaurant with his trusty crew.

Storer told Esquire, "In terms of the restaurant changing, it’s not that they’re going to lose all the charm of the restaurant. We’re going to deal with this in season two. It’s more like: How can we do this and maybe make some money? And maybe make it easier? And maybe—maybe—start from a place that’s not f**ked? Instead of beating a dead horse and making this food that no one even wants to make, I see the promise in my sort of found family in the kitchen. Can we use that to build something freshly, now that we’ve all found each other in this stupid a** system where things make no sense and people are putting veal stock on the top shelf of the walk-in?"

4. Who Is in the Cast of The Bear Season 2?

As you’d expect, Golden Globe winner Jeremy Allen White will return as Carmy in season two. His team of colleagues will also be making a comeback, including Abby Elliott (Natalie/Sugar), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Richie), Ayo Edebiri (Sydney), Lionel Boyce (Marcus), Liza Colón-Zayas (Tina), Edwin Lee Gibson (Ebrahei) and Oliver Platt (Cicero).

New additions to the cast haven’t been announced yet, but if the new season includes flashbacks, then fans will likely see Joel McHale, Jon Bernthal and Oliver Platt reprise their roles.

5. Is There a Trailer for The Bear Season 2?

In the trailer, Carmy and his team are stressed about how much work needs to be done before the new restaurant opens in six months. This includes doing renovations, creating a menu and hiring the staff. Meanwhile, Marcus and Tina are navigating the highs and lows of culinary school.

6. Is There a Teaser?

FX debuted a first-look teaser during the 2023 Oscar Awards. Set to Chicago-based band Wilco’s “Via Chicago,” the clip features the staff seemingly packing their belongings as they wait to learn what’s next for The Beef. The 30-second teaser is so brief that it’s hard to glean anything juicy about what’s to come, but it seems as though they need a miracle to reopen the restaurant’s doors. (Cue the cash-filled cans.)
