After a successful first season, The Afterparty season 2 has officially premiered on Apple TV+ —and we couldn’t be more excited.

The mystery-comedy revolves around Detective Danner (Tiffany Haddish) as she investigates a murder at a high school reunion afterparty. Each person tells their side of the story through the lens of a different film genre. And by the end of the night, a shocking revelation comes to light.

Although the killer is revealed in the first installment, the new season introduces another mystery that will leave fans on the edge of their seats. But what is season two about? And who is currently in the cast? Keep reading for details.

1. What Is The Afterparty Season 2 About?

While season one took place at a high school reunion party, season two’s big mystery unravels at a wedding ceremony, where the groom is found dead. Naturally, everyone in attendance—from business partners to family members—is a suspect, so Detective Danner has her work cut out for her.

Like season one, each episode focuses on a different suspect as they share their version of events through unique perspectives (and new film genres). Executive producer Chris Miller told Variety, “There will be…a whole new murder. Different shenanigans. Different film styles. We do have a dog in it—that’s a spoiler, but there is a dog.” Interesting…

2. Who Is in the Cast of The Afterparty Season 2?

Detective Danner returns, which means there's plenty more of Tiffany Haddish. Sam Richardson (Aniq) and Zoë Chao (Zoe) also reprise their roles in season two.

The trio is joined by newcomers Elizabeth Perkins, Zach Woods, Paul Walter Hauser, Poppy Liu, Anna Konkle, Jack Whitehall, Vivian Wu, John Cho and Ken Jeong.

3. When Did The Afterparty Season 2 Premiere?

The Afterparty season 2 dropped the first two episodes on Wednesday, July 12, with subsequent episodes premiering every Wednesday until September 6.

4. Is There a Trailer?

There sure is. On June 7, Apple TV released a full-length trailer, featuring glimpses of Detective Danner as she tries to investigate who murdered the groom on his wedding day. In the video, she says, “We got a dead body and a whole lot of people to talk to. We’d like to hear your accounts of what happened.” The trailer then reveals snippets of each person's version of events, or, according to Danner, their "mind movies."

We know what we'll be watching on Wednesdays.
