That's quite the birthday present

Now that Taylor Swift has wrapped the record-breaking Eras Tour, fans are wondering what’s next for the 35-year-old singer. Will she make a major career announcement? Will she get engaged to her boyfriend, Travis Kelce? While I patiently anxiously wait for her next move, Swift is continuing to grow her trophy collection.

Last night, the 2024 Billboard Music Awards took place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Swift wasn’t able to attend, but that didn’t stop her from making history as she became the most decorated Billboard Music Awards artist of all time.

During the awards show, Swift won ten—I repeat, ten—Billboard Music Awards, including Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top 100 Artist and Top Hot 100 Songwriter. The new additions brought her total win count to 49, a feat that no one else has achieved. Before the 2024 ceremony, the “Blank Space” singer was second to Drake (who has 42 wins). But now that she’s added ten more trophies to her collection, she has the most BMA wins of all time.

Although Swift didn’t accept the awards in person, she still filmed a special video message where she thanked fans for their ongoing support.

“I just wanted to say hi and thank you. Thank you to the Billboard Awards [and] thank you to the fans because Billboard is counting your stuff,” she said in the clip. “They’re counting what you listen to, the albums you're passionate about—so I count these as fan-voted awards because you guys are the ones that care about our albums and come see us in concert.”

Swift continued, “It means the world to me that you guys have embraced the things I’ve made, you know, and the fact that you’ve cared so much about my music.”

The singer didn’t reveal why she didn’t attend the awards show. However, she’s probably resting after wrapping the Eras Tour. Plus, the ceremony took place just one day before her 35th birthday on December 13, so maybe she has something big planned
