Jason Momoa's New Thriller 'Sweet Girl' Is Coming to Netflix & the Trailer Already Has Our Heart Racing

As an avid Jason Momoa fan, I’m always looking forward to his next big project. So, when I learned that he had a new film coming out in August, I was absolutely ecstatic. Even better, the action thriller already has a trailer.

The Game of Thrones star debuted the first footage of his movie, Sweet Girl, during Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday (and we’re getting some Taken vibes). In short, the flick is about a father and daughter (Isabela Merced) seeking revenge on a pharmaceutical company—with a ton of secrets—that denied his dying wife proper medication.

“The past is like a dream. Images and feelings offer some truth about how we got here,” Momoa narrates in the trailer. “Even if details have blurred with time.”

Netflix’s official synopsis reads: “Devoted family man Ray Cooper, vows justice against the pharmaceutical company responsible for pulling a potentially life-saving drug from the market just before his wife dies from cancer. But when his search for the truth leads to a deadly encounter that puts Ray and his daughter Rachel in harm's way, Ray's mission turns into a quest for vengeance in order to protect the only family he has left.”

Directed by Brian Andrew Mendoza, Sweet Girl stars Adria Arjona, Justin Bartha, Amy Brenneman, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Raza Jaffrey, Lex Scott Davis and Michael Raymond-James.

In his latest post on IG, Momoa captioned a poster for the film, “Excited for you all to see this film that has been a passion of mine. It's got action with a lot of heart and centered on family.”

Sweet Girl is coming to Netflix on August 20 and you bet I already marked my calendar.
