Miles Morales Spider Man CAT2
Sony Pictures Animation/IMDb

Looking for a fun, action-packed animated film to watch with the kiddos? Consider watching Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which also happens to be number one on Netflix’s top ten movie list right now.

Serving as a follow-up film to the box-office success, titled Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), this continuation follows teenage superhero Miles Morales, who is still grappling with trying to be a normal high schooler by day while fighting evil supervillains by night.

After tagging along with a friend on a mission, the Brooklyn teen soon discovers there is an entire multi-verse where different versions of Spider-Man exist. Miles is willing to do whatever it takes to protect those around him. Which begs the question: How far is Miles willing to go to save the ones he loves?

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse currently holds the first spot on the list, followed by Minions (2015) at number two and Locked In (2013) at number three. The remaining spots are occupied by The Impossible (2012), 13 Going on 30 (2004), Cold Pursuit (2019), No Hard Feelings (2023), Legion (2010), Insidious: The Red Door (2023) and Pitch Perfect (2012).

The rise in popularity of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse comes a few days after the 2023 horror movie, Insidious: The Red Door, sat at the number one spot on the list.

The thriller, which arrived on Netflix on November 4, follows Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson) and his son Dalton (Ty Simpkins), who is getting ready to go to college. However, the father and son have a distant relationship due to Josh and his wife Renai’s (Rose Byrne) divorce.

But Josh and Dalton’s past soon comes back to haunt them after their suppressed memories about The Further (a sinister parallel dimension discussed throughout the film series) start to resurface.

This calls for a movie night.
