This Exciting Sci-Fi Drama Is Now the #3 Movie on Netflix

If you loved Away and The Midnight Sky, we highly recommend you add Netflix’s latest space adventure to your streaming queue.

Space Sweepers is a Korean movie that just premiered on the streaming service earlier this month. After a matter of days, it’s already claimed the number three spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched films. (It’s currently ranked behind War Dogs and It’s All About the Benjamins.)

Space Sweepers (AKA Seungriho) takes place in the year 2092. The problem? Earth is nearly uninhabitable, so the UTS corporation is trying to build a new home for humanity.

The story follows the crew of a spaceship called The Victory. When they find a 7-year-old girl on board a crashed shuttle, they decide to make a ransom deal with the UTS Space Guards, who have been looking for her.

The movie was directed by Sung-hee Jo (A Werewolf Boy), while In-beom Yoon (The Chaser) and Soo-jin Kim (Sweet Munchies) served as executive producers. Cast members include Song Joong-ki (Tae-ho), Kim Tae-ri (Captain Jang), Jin Seon-kyu (Tiger Park), Yoo Hae-jin (Robot Bubs), Richard Armitage (James Sullivan), Kim Mu-yeol (Kang Hyeon-u) and Park Ye-rin (Dorothy).

Oh, and did we mention that Space Sweepers is considered the first Korean space blockbuster? As if we needed another reason to add it to our streaming queue.
