Need a New Feel-Good Movie? ‘Sisters on Track’ Is a Must-Watch on Netflix

If you love a good heartwarming documentary, then we’ve got just the treat for you.

Netflix recently dropped the first official trailer for Sisters on Track, a brand-new movie that’s bound to join the streaming service’s top ten list when it premieres later this month.

Sisters on Track is a coming-of-age tale about three Brooklyn-born sisters: Tai (12), Rainn (11) and Brooke (10). The story begins in 2016 when the young athletes set off a media storm after they are named “Sports Illustrated Kids of the Year” and concludes in 2019 during their final years of middle school.

“Running is what saves them,” a voiceover says. “It keeps them off the streets, keeps them with a goal—everybody needs a goal.” While the footage shows the three sisters training, competing and navigating their teenage years, it also offers a glimpse into the pressure they’re under to be the best.

“I’m not a regular kid,” one sister says. “I have a chance to get a full ride if I continue track.”

Not only does the documentary highlight their turbulent childhood, but it also shines a spotlight on their track and field coach slash mentor, Jean Bell, who is helping them achieve their dreams—one race at a time.

“I thought we were just gonna, like, be homeless for the rest of our lives,” another of the girls adds.

Sisters on Track was directed by Corinne van der Borch (Girls with Black Balloons) and Tone Grøttjord-Glenne (Brothers). Grøttjord-Glenne also served as an executive producer alongside Sam Pollard (Sammy Davis, Jr.: I’ve Gotta Be Me), Anita Rehoff Larsen (Gunda) and Pandora Zolotor (Strong Island).

Sisters on Track will hit Netflix on June 24, so prepare to take your mark.
