It’s been more than three months since the first half of Simone Biles Rising aired on Netflix. And now, the streaming service has finally completed the collection.
Part two of the sports documentary just premiered on Netflix, and it offers a behind-the-scenes look at the 27-year-old athlete and her journey at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
If you’re wondering if part two of Simone Biles Rising is worth the watch, you should know the answer is an astounding yes. The new episodes share BTS details about the Olympics that I didn’t even know happened. (Like how Simone Biles injured her calf while training for Paris and then again when she arrived for podium training.)
It also offers a rare glimpse at her relationship with her husband, Jonathan Owens, who is an NFL safety for the Chicago Bears. It’s hard enough when one person in a marriage is a famous athlete, but in this case, there are two. Owens had to miss a week of training camp to support his wife, but he did it anyway. He even lent an ear to Biles during the stressful moments leading up to her events at the Olympics.
One of the biggest takeaways from the documentary is Biles’s determination to compete at the games, even if it meant fighting through injury. Although she wasn’t 100 percent healthy, Biles refused to let her injury prevent her from representing team USA. When asked about her persistence, the athlete reveals that she doesn’t want to be called a quitter…again. (Biles was referring to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she withdrew from multiple events.)
