12 Shows Like ‘The White Lotus’ to Watch Ahead of Season 3

HBO Max’s The White Lotus is easily one of the best shows on TV right now. (See: that wild season two finale), The sharp and compelling satirical comedy perfectly blends dark humor with mystery elements, and the stellar cast is just icing on the cake. Not to mention, the show has received rave reviews and many accolades, including ten Emmy Awards for season one alone.

So, it comes as no surprise that the hit series was already renewed for a third season. And while there’s no word on a release date (yet), we figured we’d bide our time by compiling a list of 12 binge-worthy shows like The White Lotus, from The Resort to Enlightened. Keep scrolling for details.

1. Succession

  • Cast: Hiam Abbass, Nicholas Braun, Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin
  • Seasons: 3

If you enjoyed The White Lotus’s depiction of self-absorbed, privileged characters and their treatment of the poorer classes, then you’ll definitely find some similarities in Succession—although the dry, biting humor is quite different. The satire shines a spotlight on the super-rich Roy family, who own the media conglomerate Waystar RoyCo. And like The White Lotus, there’s no shortage of drama and cringe-worthy moments.

2. Acapulco

  • Cast: Eugenio Derbez, Enrique Arrizon, Damián Alcázar
  • Seasons: 2

Inspired by the comedy film How to Be a Latin Lover, Acapulco is also set at a luxury resort. Except in this case, the Apple TV+ series revolves around Maximo, a hard-working Mexican employee who dreams of climbing up the corporate ladder. Thanks to its charming cast and feel-good nostalgic tone, it’s a much tamer version of The White Lotus, so don’t expect too many unsettling or scandalous moments.

3. The Resort

  • Cast: William Jackson Harper, Christin Milioti, Nina Bloomgarden, Skyler Gisondo,
  • Seasons: 1

The criminally underrated comedy follows Noah and Emma, a married couple who visit a holiday resort for their tenth anniversary. Their romantic getaway goes downhill fast when they become involved in a huge conspiracy that’s connected to a 15-year-old crime. Unlike The White Lotus, the show includes magical realism and leans more into the mystery element, so if you’re a stickler for a good whodunnit, add this one to your list.

4. Nine Perfect Strangers

  • Cast: Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon
  • Seasons: 1

If you’re craving another compelling series with a breathtaking backdrop and a fancy resort with plenty of dark secrets, look no further than Nine Perfect Strangers. The show follows a group of—you guessed it—nine wealthy strangers who travel to California for a health and wellness retreat at the lavish Tranquillum House. The famous program is run by the mysterious Masha. But there’s more to her than meets the eye...

5. The Righteous Gemstones

  • Cast: Danny McBride, John Goodman, Edi Patterson, Adam DeVine
  • Seasons: 2

If you’re fascinated by the lifestyles of filthy rich people with virtually no moral compass, allow us to introduce The Righteous Gemstones. The series revolves around a dysfunctional family of televangelists who built their wealth on church donations. Expect plenty of bizarre subplots, laugh-out-loud moments and at least one familiar face from The White Lotus in season three.

6. The Flight Attendant

  • Cast: Kaley Cuoco, Michiel Huisman, Zosia Mamet
  • Seasons: 2

Cuoco shines as party-girl flight attendant Cassie, whose one-night stand turns into a living nightmare when she wakes up the next morning beside a bloody corpse. Sure, the premise is quite different from The White Lotus. And you won’t see any cutting commentary on the uber rich. But if you enjoyed the show’s mystery element and dark humor, you’ll get sucked right into The Flight Attendant

7. The Chair

  • Cast: Sandra Oh, Jay Duplass, Bob Balaban
  • Seasons: 1

It's a timely, smartly-written comedy that explores issues like sexism and racism in academia. And like The White Lotus, the series is equal parts funny and unsettling. Oh stars as Professor Ji-Yoon Kim, the first-ever female chair of the English department at a prestigious university. But with her new position comes way more drama than she anticipated.

8. Enlightened

  • Cast: Laura Dern, Luke Wilson, Diane Ladd, Sarah Burns
  • Seasons: 2

When Amy, a successful executive, suffers a breakdown at work, she goes to a holistic treatment facility and gains a whole new perspective on life. Upon her release, she returns to her old company and embarks on a newfound mission to be an “agent of change,” despite the corruption. But, unbeknownst to her peers, her real goal is to destroy the corporation from the belly of the beast.

9. Big Little Lies

  • Cast: Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley
  • Seasons: 2

From the idyllic beachfront views to the jaw-dropping twists and juicy drama, Big Little Lies certainly qualifies as a show to fill the While Lotus void. Based on Liane Moriarty's novel of the same name, the star-studded series follows a group of rich moms who reside in Monterey, California. However, their seemingly perfect lives start to crumble when they’re thrown into a homicide investigation. The show brilliantly tackles several deep themes, from domestic violence to grief.

10. On Becoming a God in Central Florida

  • Cast: Kirsten Dunst, Théodore Pellerin, Mel Rodriguez
  • Seasons: 1

Take a trip back to the ’90s with this gripping dark comedy, which revolves around a water park employee named Krystal. On the surface, she’s just your average Jane. But in reality, Krystal is determined to take down the multi-level-marketing scheme that destroyed her family.

11. Search Party

  • Cast: Alia Shawkat, John Reynolds, John Early, Meredith Hagner
  • Seasons: 5

You’re probably raising an eyebrow at this selection which, at first glance, has nothing in common with The White Lotus. But upon closer inspection, the show successfully balances dark comedy with suspense, and its exploration of the so-called “entitled generation” has a lot to do with wealth and class. Search Party follows a group of four selfish twenty-somethings who face dire consequences while searching for their missing colleague.

12. Yellowjackets

  • Cast: Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci
  • Seasons: 1

If you were hooked to the murder mystery in The White Lotus, then you ought to check out Yellowjackets—a gripping thriller that keeps you guessing from start to finish. The series follows a group of high school girls who become stranded in the wilderness after surviving a plane crash. The show chronicles their efforts to survive, as well as their present-day lives as adults.
