Uh-huh, Sandra Oh is ready for the Queen.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Princess Diaries alum, 51, shared that she would love to reprise her role as Vice Principal Gupta in Princess Diaries 3. Even though Oh only had a few lines in the 2001 film, her character instantly became a fan favorite thanks to one scene where she answers the phone and says in a dramatic tone, “The Queen is coming.”
When asked about her thoughts on returning for Princess Diaries 3, Oh candidly revealed, “I am ready for the Queen. Call me!” Though the Killing Eve star did not return for the second film, she shared that she’s interested to see what Gupta is up to now. “I'm dying to see how Gupta has moved up in the world,” Oh added.
While talking to the publication, Oh shared how happy she is to learn The Princess Diaries has managed to find a new generation of fans. The Grey’s Anatomy actress recounted the time she ran into a young fan.
“I remember it was like 2015, I was walking down the street in Chicago, and there [was] a young person, who at that point in 2015, was not my usual demographic, which was like a college-aged, straight white guy,” Oh said. “He passed me and then he ran back up to me and did the line: 'Uh huh. Uh huh. Uh huh. The Queen is coming.’"
After years of rumors and speculation, Disney confirmed in November 2022 that The Princess Diaries 3 is officially in the works. Per an exclusive report by The Hollywood Reporter, the third installment will continue the story of the beloved franchise, rather than serving as a reboot or a remake.
