If you love Keanu Reeves, then you need to watch this not-quite-brand-new sci-fi flick on Netflix.
Introducing Replicas, which is making a comeback on the streaming service. Although it originally premiered back in 2018, the film just recently claimed the number three spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched movies. (It’s currently ranked behind Army of Thieves and 21 Jump Street and ahead of Hypnotic, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and American Gangster.)
So, what is Replicas about? The movie is pretty much a cross between Westworld and Frankenstein. The story line revolves around a research neuroscientist named William Foster (Reeves), who’s tasked with a nearly impossible project: transferring the mind of a dead soldier into an android.
Unfortunately, his initial efforts are unsuccessful. However, he becomes determined to make it work after he’s involved in a tragic accident that claims the lives of his wife and children. So, he teams up with fellow scientist Ed Whittle (Thomas Middleditch) to help bring his family back to life. Of course, the clones are far more dangerous than they seem.
In addition to Reeves and Middleditch, other cast members include Alice Eve (Mona), John Ortiz (Jones), Emjay Anthony (Matt), Emily Alyn Lind (Sophie), Aria Leabu (Zoe) and Nyasha Hatendi (Scott).
Netflix’s official description reads, “After losing his family in a tragic accident, a neuroscientist tries to bring them back in a cloning experiment that attracts controversy and chaos.”
