Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston Recreate Iconic ‘Friends’ Scene on Instagram

Before Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston played competing news anchors on the Apple TV+ series The Morning Show, both actresses played sisters on the beloved sitcom, Friends. As a special treat to the fans, they both recreated a scene from the latter show and we can’t help but say Oh. My. Gawd.

Throughout the show’s run, Witherspoon made guest appearances as Rachel Green’s little sister, Jill. The Legally Blonde actress recently posted a short interview clip on her Instagram page, where she and Aniston are looking at a snapshot taken from the season six episode titled “The One Where Chandler Can’t Cry.”

Fans may recall that in the episode, Jill is interested in dating Rachel’s ex-boyfriend, Ross Gellar (played by David Schwimmer), but Rachel is against it. “Oh, that’s sweet,” Witherspoon says as she looks at the picture.

Aniston asks, “Is this where you say the line that you love so much?” Witherspoon confirms that it is and proceeds to convince her co-star to recreate the scene on camera. But there’s only one small problem: Aniston doesn’t remember the line.

The Big Little Lies star whispers the line (behind a sheet of paper) to her castmate and she starts the scene by saying, “You can’t have Ross.” In a quippy response, Witherspoon says, “Can’t have? Can’t have? The only thing I can’t have is dairy.”

Witherspoon has nothing but fond memories of working with Aniston on the set of Friends. Back in 2019, the actress sat down with Harper’s Bazaar and revealed that the Friends star was “so sweet to me.”

“I was really nervous, and she was like, ‘Oh, my gosh—don’t worry about it!’ I marveled at her ability to perform in front of a live audience like that with no nerves. They would change all the lines and she was just so effortlessly affable, bubbly, and sunny…We’ve been friends ever since.”

Loving this nostalgic trip down memory lane.
