Royal Report Says Prince William Is About to Make a Surprise Appearance—But Will Kate Join Him?

According to a new report in The Daily Express, Prince William is expected to travel to France next week to catch some of the Games alongside two of his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who are still enjoying their summer holiday.
At this point, it’s just a royal rumour, but it’s one that comes with additional buzz: Apparently, Kate Middleton—who is still undergoing treatment for cancer—is also eager to make the trip to Paris alongside her fam.

If the report is true, it makes sense that the Princess of Wales would want to join. For one thing, she’s a natural-born athlete—with an affinity for tennis, of course. She also enjoyed some of her happiest moments alongside her husband Prince William when the Olympics came to London in 2012. (#TBT to that pic of the then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge embracing following Great Britain’s historic win in the men’s sprint track cycling final.)
As for when to expect to see William, the report suggests it could be as early as Monday, August 5, given the Prince of Wales would like to check out some of the climbing competitions—a sport he’s long enjoyed. (Should Kate attend, it will be a last-minute decision and one that hinges on the advice of her doctors, given her health.)
First, Wimbledon, now this? Another Kate appearance this summer would be almost as thrilling as the Olympic Games itself. That said, much like when Kate showed up to watch tennis, we hope she ignores any royal pressure and takes it one day at a time.
