‘PEN15’ Is Returning with New Episodes in December (and This Trailer Is Getting Us Pumped)

Ready for more jokes centered around puberty, first loves and the awkwardness of adolescence? 'Cause we sure are. Lucky for us, the Hulu original comedy PEN15 is returning with new episodes on December 3 and we couldn't be more excited. The series stars real-life best friends Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle, who created the show based on their own friendship as middle schoolers.

Season 2 of the series was broken into two parts, with the first half debuting back in September of 2020 and the final six episodes arriving next month. The news was shared on the show's official Instagram account. “They're just trying to figure it out," the caption reads. "♥ New episodes of #pen15show drop December 3 on @hulu! Swipe to watch the trailer.”

In the clip (which can be watched in full below), we see that factors like burgeoning romances and family struggles are affecting the lives of our two leads. But if there's one thing we can be sure of, it's that their friendship will stay stronger than ever.

“What if we just like wake up one day and we're not friends?” Erskine's character asks, until she and Konkle go, “Orrr!”

Excitement has been built around the show even more ever since Erskine and Konkle both experienced twin pandemic pregnancies (and proved that their friendship is one for the books).

Konkle also made a recent Instagram post, where she discussed the importance of making PEN15, saying, “Friendships can be as deep as being in love. Female friendships are often portrayed as thin and fun and vapid. They missed it. It’s as serious as love and war...It’s an honor to write about it. To depict it. To show children being emotionally intelligent. We aren’t hiding. We are enough. We are important. We are not a side dish to the meal. We are the meal.”

We'll be counting down every minute until December 3.
