Here’s Why Oliver Putnam from ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Is the Absolute Worst

Our annoyance with Oliver Putnam from Only Murders in the Building has reached an all-time high.

PureWow just released a brand-new episode of The Worst YouTube series, which is “a show where we dissect your favorite TV show’s worst characters.” In this installment, creator Matthew explained why Oliver (played by Martin Short) is the worst character on the popular Hulu series.

Matthew began the episode with a tribute to Gut Milk, saying, “Since we’re talking about Only Murders in the Building, I feel like it’s only appropriate for me to be drinking Gut Milk, which is what Oliver and Charles [played by Steve Martin] were coerced into buying in exchange for information to move them forward in their investigation.”

He went on to explain how Oliver’s over-the-top behavior and financial woes make him stand out among the other characters (and not in a good way). Watch the full video above to hear why Oliver is the absolute worst character on Only Murders in the Building.

The popular show debuted on Hulu back in 2021, and the second season just dropped in late June, with new episodes premiering weekly.

The story line follows three true-crime-obsessed strangers who team up after someone dies in their apartment building. In addition to Short and Martin, Only Murders in the Building also stars Selena Gomez (Mabel), Cara Delevingne (Alice) and Amy Ryan (Jan).
