2024 has already brought us some of the most iconic TV cast reunions. First, TV show lovers experienced a surprise Suits reunion at this year’s Golden Globes. And now, they can add another nostalgic cast reunion to the list: New Girl alums Zooey Deschanel and Jake Johnson (aka Jess and Nick).

On January 9, Deschanel (Jess), 43, and Johnson (Nick), 45, reunited at the premiere of his new movie, Self Reliance, in Los Angeles. The former co-stars, who played an on-screen couple in the comedy series, snapped a photo with each other at the Hulu premiere party.

In the slideshow, which was posted on the official Hulu Instagram page, the fourth slide shows a pic of Deschanel smiling next to her castmate while wearing a chic black blazer with a matching black dress covered in a white cross pattern. Meanwhile, Johnson dons a toffee-colored jacket with a black button-up and jeans.

The caption read, “Keeping good company is always important, especially at the #SelfReliance premiere.”

New Girl fans couldn’t stop freaking out in the comments section. One person wrote, “ZOOEY AND JAKE IN 2024 MY HEART IS SO FULL (insert Nick Miller sobbing).” Another fan chimed in and said, “NICK AND JESS OMG.”

As we said before, Deschanel and Johnson played a beloved couple in New Girl. And for many fans, the pair had undeniable chemistry—and apparently, the show writers thought so too. In a February 2023 episode of the Welcome to Our Show podcast, a series hosted by New Girl stars Deschanel, Hannah Simone (Cece) and Lamorne Morris (Winston), Deschanel shared how the writers tried to keep her and Johnson apart earlier on in the show. Why? Because they have a *super* strong chemistry.

“They were like, ‘Listen, you guys have such great chemistry,’” the (500) Days of Summer alum said on the pod. “‘This is a series, we have to play this out over time, and we don't want to put you guys in the same like storylines together…’”
