If you're looking for a twisty, edge-of-your-seat thriller to binge-watch this weekend, then allow me to put Netlfix's The Accident on your radar.

The Spanish-language drama, which hit the streaming platform on August 21, is currently ranked fifth on Netflix's top ten list of most-watched shows, surpassing fan favorites like Dark Winds and Emily in Paris. It revolves around four families who reside in a cozy, tight-knit community in Santa Cruz, Mexico. However, when a windstorm wreaks havoc at a kids' outdoor birthday party, their lives are turned upside down.

It's intense, it's emotional and it tackles deeper themes like guilt, revenge and family dynamics. But guys, whatever you do, do not—I repeat, do not—watch the trailer, as it gives practically everything away.

The official synopsis reads, "Each character is forced to confront their own inner demons and the difficult moral decisions they must make. The Accident paints a stark picture of the human condition, displaying the frailties and strengths that emerge in situations of extreme pain. Yet, it is also a story of hope and redemption, as the characters figure out that it is possible to rebuild hope in the future and to find life after pain."

Regarding the The Accident's impact, Eréndira Ibarra, who plays Lupita in the series, said in an interview with Milenio, "I think it is a project that will entertain people a lot, but will also really shake all the people who see it. That will make them feel how others hurt, and who has the right to hurt."

Now, I won't reveal any spoilers, but it's worth mentioning that there's a scary bouncy house incident that just might be every parent's worst nightmare. Also, there are multiple twists toward the end—and one of them involves a murder.

The 10-episode series was directed by Klych López and Gracia Querejeta, and it was written by Leonardo Padrón. In addition to Ibarra, the cast includes Regina Blandón, Silverio Palacios, Ana Claudia Talancón, Luis Ernesto Franco, Erick Elías and Alberto Guerra.

All episodes of The Accident are now available to stream on Netflix.
