Netflix Drops Trailer for 'Happy Gilmore' 2 (and Swifties May Be Disappointed)

Netflix dropped the highly anticipated Happy Gilmore 2 trailer today—and that’s not all. The streaming giant also confirmed that the sequel will hit screens on July 25.

While the producers are keeping the movie’s plot under wraps, the trailer hints that Adam Sandler’s character may be grappling with career doubts. “I haven’t swung a club in years,” he admits in the trailer. “I don’t know where to start.” He then adds, “I guess I need to update my happy place to something a little more age-appropriate.”

From there, the trailer launches into a fast-paced montage featuring familiar faces, including Ben Stiller and Julie Bowen, who pointedly tells him, “We're not done with golf.”

The star-studded cast also includes Bad Bunny, Sandler’s daughters Sadie and Sunny and a surprise cameo from none other than Taylor Swift's boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

Sandler confirmed that the athlete would have a cameo in the film back in August of last year, and fans were treated to a sneak peak of said cameo when a teaser for the movie was released on December 25, 2024.

In the teaser, Kelce sports a red vest, black tie, and slicked-back hair as he greets Sandler’s character with a warm, “It’s great to see you back, Mr. Gilmore.”

However, fans hoping for more of Kelce were out of luck—he was noticeably absent from the full trailer released today. Despite that, the reaction to the new footage was overwhelmingly positive. One excited fan declared, “This is officially the best summer of my life,” while another gushed, “I can’t wait to watch this. Thank you, Adam, for making us happy.”

And Kelce isn't the only sports star who will be making a cameo. Professional golfers John Daly, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau and more also feature in the movie.

Looks like Happy is back—and who knows? Maybe he'll be getting some swing tips from Kelce himself.
