NBC’s Fall Lineup: Which Shows Were Canceled & Which Were Renewed?

We have mixed feelings about NBC’s latest announcement.

The network just released an official list of what is (and what isn’t) returning to the small screen later this year. Although the Fall 2021 lineup highlights several returning TV shows, it also names the not-so-lucky titles that are getting canceled after their current seasons. Womp, womp.

On the bright side, NBC renewed several binge-worthy series, like The Blacklist (season 9), Law & Order: SVU (season 23), Mr. Mayor (season 2), New Amsterdam (season 4) and The Voice (season 21). It also promised (at least) one more season of the entire Chicago franchise, which includes Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago P.D.

Although This Is Us was officially renewed for season six, it will be the show’s last. We’re not totally surprised by the news, since multiple people—including Milo Ventimiglia (Jack Pearson)—previously mentioned that the creators are eyeing a six-season run.

There’s one newcomer in the bunch: Law & Order: For the Defense. The spin-off series focuses on the criminal defense team, who are in a constant battle with the justice system.

Keep reading for details on NBC’s fall 2021 TV lineup, including the shows that are returning, ending and those whose fate is still undecided.
