The #3 Show on Netflix Is a High Intensity Thriller (& the Trailer Speaks for Itself)

It's based on a Harlan Coben novel

It’s the New Year, which means that a new batch of TV shows and movies are headed to Netflix. Last year’s roundup is hard to beat, ranging from a deeply emotional drama directed by Denzel Washington’s son to a limited series based on a classic crime novel. Oh, and I can’t forget about Nobody Wants This, which reignited my obsession with Seth Cohen Adam Brody. Luckily, 2025 is already off to a good start.

Missing You just hit Netflix on January 1, and it’s already claimed the number three spot on the streaming service’s list of most-watched shows. (It’s currently ranked behind WWE Raw and Squid Game, but ahead of Selling the City, Virgin River, No Good Deed and La Palma.)

The high intensity thriller revolves around an NYPD detective named Kat Donovan (played by Rosalind Eleazar), who is forced to reopen a case involving her dad’s murder. It all starts when Kat matches with her ex-fiancé on a dating app. In normal circumstances, this would be laughable. But for Kat, it’s quite confusing because he disappeared years before. As the captivating trailer suggests (see below), Kat soon realizes that digging for answers could reveal secrets she never saw coming.

Missing You is adapted from Harlan Coben’s 2014 novel of the same name, and it follows in the footsteps of the author’s previous book-to-series adaptations, including Stay Close, Fool Me Once and The Stranger. Coben served as an executive producer on Missing You alongside series writer Victoria Asare-Archer (Death in Paradise).

All five episodes of Missing You are now streaming on Netflix
