1. How Can I Watch Mary & George?

Mary & George will premiere on April 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Starz. The series will be available to stream on the Starz app on April 5 at midnight.

2. What Is Mary & George About?

The story is set in 17th-century England and based on Benjamin Woolley’s nonfiction book The King’s Assassin. The series focuses on Mary Villiers (Countess of Buckingham) and Sir George Villiers (1st Duke of Buckingham). The series is like a cross between The Crown and Succession because it explores the power struggle and how it affected the monarchy.

According to Moore, the series highlights Mary’s struggles after becoming a widow.

“She had no value, she had responsibility with these children but there's no way she's going to be able to provide for them, unless she married somebody else,” the actress told Yahoo! Entertainment. “So she always finds a way to do it.”

Moore continued, “She has to access these relationships in order to survive so, for me, I think it was a really important story to tell, because it’s easy to forget. It’s easy to forget how few rights women had, and sometimes still have.”
