*This* Popular Sitcom Is Now the #5 Show on Netflix After Dropping a Brand-New Season

Need a good laugh? Look no further than Kim’s Convenience, which just dropped a handful of new episodes on Netflix.

While the sitcom is no stranger to the streaming service, it recently claimed a spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched shows. (It’s currently ranked at number five behind Lucifer, Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story, Cocomelon and Ragnarok.)

Kim’s Convenience is a funny and heartwarming story about the Kim family. Mr. and Mrs. Kim (AKA “Appa” and “Umma”) are first generation Korean-Canadians who are proud owners of a Toronto convenience store. Together, they tackle several of life’s obstacles, in addition to the ups and downs of running a “mom and pop” shop.

Cast members include Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Appa), Jean Yoon (Umma), Andrea Bang (Janet), Simu Liu (Jung), Andrew Phung (Kimchee), Nicole Power (Shannon), Ben Beauchemin (Gerald), Michael Musi (Terence), Ziad Ek (Omar), Akosua Amo-Adem (Stacie), Sugith Varughese (Mr. Mehta), Amanda Brugel (Nina), Gabriella Sundar Singh (Chelsea), John Ng (Mr. chin), Derek McGrath (Frank) and Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll (Enrique).

Kim’s Convenience originally premiered back in 2016 and has brought us new episodes on a yearly basis (excluding 2018). The rise in popularity came just a few days after Netflix dropped season five, which will be the show’s last. On the bright side, CBC is currently developing a spin-off series, Strays, that focuses on Shannon. Unfortunately, production has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

If you need us, we’ll be re-watching Kim’s Convenience over again from season one.
