*Warning: Spoilers ahead*

If you’ve never heard of the English singer and songwriter Kate Bush before watching Stranger Things 4, then have no fear—we have you covered.

New episodes of the highly anticipated show recently dropped on Netflix. While the plot is focused on the new villain, there's one musical tune that's standing out from the rest: Kate Bush’s 1985 pop single, “Running Up That Hill.” The single is currently the most streamed song on iTunes right now, according to Deadline.

So, we compiled a list of everything you need to know about Bush, including where she started and how her song connects to Stranger Things 4.

1. Who Is Kate Bush?

Kate Bush is an English singer, songwriter and producer. In 1978, she topped the U.K. single chart for four consecutive weeks with her debut song, “Wuthering Heights.” At the age of 19, Bush became the first female artist to achieve a U.K. number one with a self-written song. The musician went on to release 25 U.K. Top 40 singles and ten studio albums that reached the U.K. Top 10.

2. What Is Kate Bush Doing Now?

Since she released her seventh studio album, The Red Shoes, Kate Bush has pretty much disappeared from the public eye. She welcomed her son, Albert, in 1998. Bush made her musical return in 2005, with her eighth studio album titled Aerial. Ever since then, she has been living in South Devon, England, with her family. But, she came out of retirement in 2014 to go on a concert residency tour, called Before the Dawn. This marked the first time she has gone on tour since 1979’s The Tour of Life.

3. What Role Does Kate Bush's Song Play In 'stranger Things' Season 4?

In the premiere episode, Max (Sadie Sink) becomes the target of Hawkins' new villain: Vecna, who preys on people in their dreams (sounds very Freddie Kruger-esque). She is grieving the loss of her step-brother, Billy (Dacre Montgomery), who died at the end of season three.

In one scene, Max is listening to Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” to avoid her classmates at Hawkins High School, as she grapples with Billy’s death. The song was the first single off the singer’s 1985 album, Hounds of Love.

4. When Is 'stranger Things' Season 4 Volume 2 Coming Out?

The good news is Stranger Things fans won’t have to wait too long for volume two to premiere on Netflix. According to Esquire, the final two episodes of season four will be released on July 1, 2022. The second part will most likely pick up where the previous one left off, with Nancy (played by Natalia Dyer) in Vecna’s lair.

Better yet, audiences won’t have to wait too long for Stranger Things season five to debut. In an interview with Variety, the Duffer Brothers revealed the gap between seasons four and five won’t be too extensive. “The gap should be quite a bit shorter this time, due to the fact that we already have an initial outline, and we can’t imagine there will be another six-month forced hiatus,” they said.
