This Nicolas Cage Flick Just Hit #5 on Netflix (& 'Action-Packed' Doesn't Even Begin to Describe It)

Nicolas Cage just made his way to Netflix's top ten list for the second time in recent memory—and while his film certainly isn't as profane as the History of Swear Words, there's no shortage of fight sequences.

Allow us to introduce you to the 2020 fantasy martial arts flick, Jiu Jitsu, which is now the fifth most-watched film on the streaming platform. It's already bumped ahead of titles like Skylines and The Last Blockbuster, and judging by the trailer, it's essentially a cross between Mortal Kombat and The Predator.

Based on Logothetis and Jim McGrath's comic book of the same name, the movie follows an ancient order of Jiu Jitsu fighters, including Jake Barnes (Alain Moussi) and Wylie (Cage). Every six years, they have to battle a group of dangerous alien invaders in order to protect mankind. But when Jake, a celebrated war hero, suffers from amnesia after getting captured by a military squad, the fate of mankind starts to look uncertain.

The movie also stars Frank Grillo, JuJu Chan, Tony Jaa, Rick Yune and Marie Avgeropoulos.

Jiu Jitsu has gotten quite a few mixed reviews, and it didn't do so well at the box office during its initial release. However, Critic Rob Hunter noted that it offers "plenty of action beats and a few fun thrills," adding that "action fans will be satiated by a talented cast kicking butt across fairly nondescript landscapes."

Nicolas Cage fighting against aliens martial arts style? Well, we need something to pass the time now that Bridgerton is old news...
